The journey into the subconscious takes shape through a visit to an apartment that recalls mysterious presences. The mixture of residual traces triggers a dreamlike experience in the protagonist in form of reminiscence. Through the perception of latent images that re-emerge from memory, the real or imaginary connection that links personal identity to living space is explored.
Made on a independent basis through collaboration with a nonprofessional actress, Mimesis offers an in-depth exploration of the theme of unconscious memory. Based on pre-existing traces in the shooting environments, several memory devices are staged through the use of archival photographs and family footage, which become an essential part of the entire space. The film benefits from the friendly collaboration of Nebraska Indie Cinema Crew, Torrevado Studio and U.S.O. Production.
