“il Messaggero” is a documentary about an Italian immigrant’s mission in 1966. The story of this unique Italian-American experience was created for the 2021 Russo Brothers Film Forum and made possible through a grant awarded to only 8 filmmakers around the country and from certain other parts of the world. It tells the story of one man’s idea to bring messages of hope and joy to America as he settles his family in Sharpsburg, PA, a city suburb of Pittsburgh. In doing so, he unknowingly immortalizes a generation of Italians and some 50 years later we see its impact on the next generation living in the U.S.
