This is an excerpt from a work in progress, specifically, my multimedia narrative tentatively entitled “In Quest of Worlds,” which takes the conceit that the writer/video-maker and the reader/viewer are somehow transported to a distant future in which human beings have migrated into computers. They have become, in other words, software dwelling inside simulated worlds. Further, the story assumes that each human has the capacity to construct a world, a synthetic reality, tailored exactly for their tastes and interests.

The result being, though, that each of us is then presented with the temptations and perils of being the creator of a universe… in other words, a demiurge.

This particular excerpt, “Worlds Of Love 1,” occurs early in the story.
